Co-cultivation Program of French Postgraduates between France and China

    Under the guidance of International Exchange and Cooperation Department of Ministry of Education, China Education International Exchange Research Center of China Education International Exchange Association (Abbr. Research Center of Exchange Association) try to fulfill the spirit made by Zhou Ji, head of Ministry of Education, who emphasized the importance of exchanging of the talents of high level, developing scientific research program and increasing the complementary programs of advantages between universities and colleges. On the basis of doing extensive research, our university was qualified to cooperate with EPITECH (European Institute of Technology) and the two universities agreed to co-cultivate the postgraduates of computer.

 

    Our university named this program the Co-cultivation Program of French Postgraduates between France and China. During the five years’ cooperation, each year EPITECH sends at least 50 postgraduates of grade one to our university to study computer, Chinese, Chinese culture and training for a year.

 

    At the beginning of November 2005, EPITECH sent 50 postgraduates of grade one to study in our university, which started the “Co-cultivation Program of French Postgraduates between France and China”. To present this program’s typical and pioneering significance, Mr. Cao Xingguo, head of International Cooperation and Exchange of Ministry of Education, and Mr. Dominique Dubois, the counselor of education of French Embassy in China and other relevant people were invited to attend the opening ceremony, which showed that Chinese government and our university attached great importance to this. French media also showed great attention on this program. Le Figaro, Les Echos, The First Computer Magazine, Channel Five TV and other media came to China to attend the opening ceremony. Channel Five TV broadcast a 19-minute special report and introduced those French students’ studying, living and training etc.

 

    It’s the pioneer work in the history of education cooperation and exchange between France and China. It is a memorable event to our two universities and French and Chinese education as well. Both France and China have long and brilliant culture. As the representatives of French and Chinese culture, they are different in many ways, which make their cooperation more compatible and supplementary to each other. The practice of this program will promote the changing of our teaching notion, the innovation of teaching contents and creating our teaching pattern and further push forward the development of the information technology and industry of Dalian and the whole Liaoning Province. At present two thirds of the French students have found satisfactory jobs after their graduation. They are working in the well-known companies all over the world. More than 10 came back to China to create their own careers or work in China. We have been noticed that 8 of them are in Dalian, 1 in Beijing, 1 in Shanghai and 1 in Sichuan. The cooperation between EPITECH and our university will add a new page to French and Chinese culture and the French overseas students will definitely become the bond of French and Chinese education exchange, which will promote the two countries’ exchange and cooperation of science and technology and trade.
